MANAGUA
> Distance: Two hours, 135km away from Matagalpa
> Price: 105 cordobas Express Bus ; 83 cordobas Regular Bus
> Type: Regular (3 hour drive) and Express Buses (2 hour drive)
> Departure time: There is one every half hour. Starting at 4:30am – 6:30pm
+ Buses from Managua to Matagalpa leave from Mayoreo Bus Station on the east side of the city. You can also catch a bus from Managua to Jinotega and get off in Matagalpa.
LEÓN
> Distance: Three and a half hours, 142 km away from Matagalpa
> Price: 100 – 110 cordobas, around US$ 3
> Type: Three Express Buses
> Departure time: 4:30am, 7:30am and 2:45pm
+ In León you go to the main market where the main bus station is located. From there you can find the 3 express buses. There is also a few mini buses running, but the departure time is not fixed.
GRANADA
+ There are no direct buses from Granada to Matagalpa you will need to change bus in Masaya or Managua.
+ From central park of Granada you can take a mini bus to Managua where you will arrive at La UCA bus station, from there you can take a taxi to Mayoreo bus station to catch an express bus to Matagalpa.
+ From the bus station near the market in Granada you can take an ordinary bus to Masaya where you can change bus to Matagalpa. Read more about this connection below.
MASAYA
> Distance: Two hours and half, 131 km away from Matagalpa
> Price: 70 – 80 cordobas
> Type: one express bus,
> Departure time: 6am and 6:45am
+ From the main market in Masaya buses run to Matagalpa, only in the morning. It is also possible to take a ordinary bus to Tipitapa and get off at the bus stop near the gas station on the highway to Matagalpa. There you can wait for an ordinary bus to Matagalpa. (Note: this bus takes 3 hours to get to Matagalpa from Tipitapa).
ESTELÍ
> Distance: 1h40min, 72 km away from Matagalpa
> Price: 60 – 70 cordobas, US$ 2
> Type: Regular Buses
> Departure time: One every half hour, starting at 5:00am to 5:00pm
+ From the main bus station buses leave to Matagalpa every half hour.
OMETEPE
+ There are no direct buses from Ometepe island to Matagalpa. You will have to take a boat to San Jorge or Granada. From San Jorge there are diferent ways to get to Matagalpa but the easiest way is the following: take a taxi to the bus station in Rivas and catch a bus to Managua that will drive until Roberto Huembes bus station. From there you can take a taxi to Mayoreo bus station to catch an express bus to Matagalpa.
SAN JUAN DEL SUR
+ There are no direct buses from San Juan del Sur to Matagalpa. On the corner of the market you can take a direct bus to Managua that will drive until Roberto Huembes bus station. From there you can take a taxi to Mayoreo bus station to catch an express bus to Matagalpa. If you have to wait a long time for a direct bus to Managua you can also choose to take a bus to Rivas and there change to a bus that drives to Managua.
JINOTEGA
> Distance: One hour and a half
> Price: 50 – 60 cordobas
> Type: Regular buses
> Departure time: Every half hour starting at 5:00am until 5:00pm
